Dieter Sturma holds a chair of philosophy at the University of Bonn. He is the director of the Institute of Science and Ethics and of the German Reference Centre for Ethics in the Life Sciences since 2007. Since 2009 he is also director of the Institute for Ethics in the Neuroscience at the Research Centre Juelich. Before he took these positions, he lectured at various German universities and was guest professor in the USA. From 1998 to 2007 he held a chair of philosophy at the University of Essen. His list of publications includes (inter alia): Jean-Jacques Rousseau (2001), Robotics (2001), Person (2001), Kant's Ethics (2004), Philosophy of Mind (2005), Philosophy and Neurosciences (2006), Philosophy of Person (2008) – (all published in German).
