Human genetics and molecular biology are the keys to tomorrow’s medicine. They are already confronting researchers and society with major ethical, legal and socio-cultural questions. After all, these disciplines will, in future, have a far-reaching impact on human life. While providing an overview of the latest research developments, this book is also a helpful introduction to the discussion of the controversial issues of the day.
A number of selected areas are examined here in depth: genetic diagnostics, functional research for therapeutic goals, pharmacogenetics, and the individualised medicine of the future.
