Number of PGD applications in Germany

According to the preimplantation genetic diagnosis act the Federal Government must publish a report about the experience made with PGD every four years. The report provides the number of applications and implementations of the PGD. While the first report from 2015 showed that PGD was only used 34 times nationwide in the first year after the ordinance came into force 2014, the data from the second report of the Federal Government in 2020 shows that the number of around 300 applications now lies within the expectations formulated in the ordinance on PGD regulation (Präimplantationsdiagnostikverordnung – PIDV).
