Statements of the World Medical Association on genetics and genetic engineering
In 1987, the World Medical Association (WMA) adopted a declaration containing the first fundamental statements on genetic testing and genetic engineering. In 2005 the declaration was revoked in Santiago, Chile. It was followed by a new declaration on genetics and medicine, which was last amended in 2019 and explicitly states its position on gene therapy (point 14).
