Positive freedom

Positive freedom refers to the freedom to perform certain actions. In contrast to negative freedom, the positive understanding of freedom does not simply mean that a person is not prevented from performing certain actions; rather, to be considered positively free, the conditions enabling the action in question must be met. For example, a person is positively free to rent an apartment if they have the financial means to do so and if there are a sufficient number of affordable apartments available in their desired location.
