Biodiversity Network Bonn

BION – Biodiversity Network Bonn was founded in 2013. About 60 partner organisations working on biodiversity at the local, regional, national and international level have merged as part of the network. The partners include federal and state ministries and their subordinate authorities, the city of Bonn, numerous institutes of the University of Bonn, international and UN organisations with headquarters in Bonn as well as non-governmental organisations and institutions of research and education, media and museums.

Building on already existing activities, cooperation and expertise, the goal of the network is to promote innovative and model approaches in the realm of biodiversity and to establish a “think tank” with its partners. The activities of the network are divided into nine working groups that deal with the topic areas of research, human development, nutrition and agriculture, knowledge-based bio-economy, ethics as well as social impact and education. The DRZE coordinates the working groups on Ethics of Biodiversity and Interdisciplinary Approaches.
